My name is Savanna Collier and I am a 19-year-old female. I was born in Lakeland, Florida and then moved to Ft. Campbell, Kentucky when I was 4-years-old. In 2011, I moved to North Pole, Alaska due to my father being in the military. I have lived here ever since then and I have very much enjoyed it. Currently, I’m enrolled as a full-time sophomore student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. My studies include Associates of Applied Sciences in Nursing and Associates of Arts. My major is Pre-major Nursing at the moment, but this spring I will be applying to the AAS nursing program in Kenai, Alaska. I’m also employed at Pagoda Restaurant in North Pole as a part-time busser. I enjoy being outdoors and doing exciting activities in the summer and winter seasons. I also love to binge watch my favorite shows on Netflix on my lazy days. I’m looking forward to taking this course and learning more about the different arts.
I have never had a huge inspiration for art, but I do enjoy looking at certain pieces and listening to music. When I was younger, I always wanted to draw or paint something, but I felt that I wasn’t that good, so I quit doing it. However, I still like to doodle and color in one of those “adult” coloring books. I’ve only been to two art museums, so I feel that I have not experienced the full effect. Although, it would be fun and interesting to go to one and actually study the art and the artists.

This website provides a ton of information on the different types of art styles and movements that have shaped the art world. The arts range from Impressionism to Surrealism.

I love the creative post! It is very nice for your first blog.

Dear Savanna, my father was in the military too! I lived in Alaska for a time when I was younger and continue to visit the state as a vacation site to see old friends I left behind. I have not met you but I have deep respect for you already simply because you wish to be a healer. To me, that is one of the most admirable jobs on this planet. I love being outdoors as well!
I hope that one day you decide to pick up a paint brush and paint. Who cares if you’re “no good”? In my personal opinion, there is no such thing as a good or bad piece of art. What is ugly to you is beautiful to someone else. Take the art piece you chose to share for example. Where I happen to agree with you that this piece of art is beautiful and I love the colours, someone else could disagree completely with us and think it is hideous.

I don’t have a strong connection to art either. I did find the picture of the giraffe pretty interesting though, as it has many colors and shapes in it.

I really like the use of colors in the painting, it gives me a sense of awe. This art work would be the perfect piece to have in any household or art museum.
